Andantino and Allegro – (2011), for trumpet and piano, Grade 4, 6′
Since I’ve been enrolled at WMU, I’ve been endlessly fascinated with brass chamber music. In the spring of 2011, I was admitted to WMU as a trumpet major, and I began to write this piece, and I think it turned out well. It received its world premiere at WMU in 2013. As its title suggests, there is no programmatic material. Instead, I was fascinated with the idea of extended tertiary harmony and the use of the Lydian mode. The work is in two movements. The first is slow and reflective, and the second is a quick dance in 6/8 time. Order here. Score sample here.
