The Hotshots – a grade 3 band march coming in January 2023
2023 is the 10th anniversary of the Yarnell Hill Fire in central Arizona, which claimed the lives of 19 young men of the Granite Mountain Hotshots. Hotshots are the elite teams of firefighters tasked with battling dangerous wildfires.
This traditional march is approximately grade 3, in 6/8 time. The first two strains are in F major, with a trio in Bb followed by a second trio in Eb, featuring the melody of “Amazing Grace” with optional bagpipes accompaniment. The march concludes with a reprise of the first trio in Bb and a stinger at the end. As the composition progresses, I will post previews here.
The buy-in for ensembles is just $50, with half of proceeds going to firefighting charities. Be a part of creating a march celebrating the heroes who battle the most dangerous of fires. Members of the consortium will receive exclusivity through the end of the 2023 school year, and their names/ensemble names included in the score. Afterward, the march will be available for $30, with half of proceeds continuing to go to firefighting charites.
