Meditation: Music for Sleep (2011)

I wrote this piece, for piano, chimes, marimba, and choir (all synthesized), for use in my own breath meditation. I used minimalist layering techniques to achieve a piece that was long enough for a meditation session, interesting enough to pay attention to, and repetitive enough to help achieve a meditative state. The tempo is slow enough to relax the breath over time to sync with each measure of the music. The particular choice of key and harmony remind me of the dark stillness of night, hence the title.
